WINTER HAVEN, FL -
Austin Kreyenhagen struck out 12 and
Ian Murphy drove in three runs to lead #13 Rowan to a 5-2 win over Endicott to close out its Spring Break trip. The Profs went 5-2 in Florida and are now 8-2 overall.
The sophomore righthander went 8.2 innings and recorded a career-high 12 strikeouts to earn his second victory of the year (2-0).
Ben Schild entered the game in the top of the ninth with two runners on and the tying run at the plate and got a strikeout to end the game and notch his first save of the year.
Murphy went 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run scored. The designated hitter got Rowan started off in the first when he hit his first home run as a Prof, a two-run shot that brought home
Brayden Davis.
Endicott (6-5) picked up a run in the third before Rowan added two more in the fifth.
Evan McCoach doubled in
Mason Dorsey, who had singled, and then Murphy laid down a sacrifice bunt to score McCoach, giving the Profs a 4-1 lead. Rowan added one more in the eighth when
Kyle Lamanteer singled and advanced on an error, and then eventually scored on a passed ball.
The Sea Gulls only got one back in the ninth inning before Schild entered to get the final out.
Rowan returns home but has a busy week ahead, with road games at Messiah (Tuesday), Swarthmore (Wednesday) and the home opener against Cairn on Thursday. The Profs will also open conference play with a doubleheader at home on Saturday against Ramapo.
