SWARTHMORE, PA -
Joey Bogart,
Mason Dorsey and
Kyle Lamanteer drove in two runs apiece as #13 Rowan defeated #25 Swarthmore, 11-2, in the Profs' first game after returning from their Florida trip.
Brayden Davis went 3-for-5,
Nick Struble had two hits and scored three runs and
Evan McCoach had two hits to contribute for Rowan (9-2).
Starter
Ben Schild struck out four in four innings of work and
Christian Rice (2-0) earned the win in two innings, while also recording four strikeouts.
Nick Watson,
Evan Brasberger and
Jack Norton pitched a scoreless inning each to secure the win.
Rowan took a quick 1-0 lead as
Damon Suriani's sacrifice fly scored McCoach. A ground out by Bogart scored Struble in the second as the Profs held a 2-0 lead.
The Profs exploded for six runs in the third by first getting two runs off an error by the Garnet. Then Lamanteer notched a two-run single to score
Ian Murphy and
Jason Schooley.
Dorsey followed with a two-run double to bring home Struble and Lamanteer, giving the visitors an 8-0 lead.
Swarthmore (14-4) countered with two runs in the bottom of the inning off a solo home run and an RBI double.
Rowan added to its lead in the fourth on a fielder's choice by Bogart and another Swarthmore error. The Profs closed out the scoring in the fifth as Davis' single allowed McCoach to cross the plate.
The Profs will play their long-delayed home opener on Thursday as they host Cairn with first pitch set for 3:30 p.m.
