GLASSBORO, NJ -- Rowan took out Kean, 3-1 (25-20, 22-25, 25-16, 25-23), Wednesday evening from Esby Gymnasium to improve to 5-0 in the NJAC and extend its program record win streak to 18 matches.
Hutton Cordrey led three players in double-digit kills with a match-high 13. The junior also totaled 15 digs for her third double-double of the season.
Abby Chadwick and
Jessica Smart each kicked in 11 as the Profs (20-2, 5-0 NJAC) rallied in the fourth set to sit alone in first place in the conference.
Cayley Elena Morrison paced the Cougars (10-10, 4-1 NJAC) with 12 kills and three blocks. Teammate Ashley Torok added nine kills, eight digs and six aces.
Rowan would jump out to a 10-4 lead in the first and later hold off a late Kean run to go up, 1-0. The Profs could not find a lead in the second as the Cougars countered to even things up. A four-point spurt was part of an 11-4 run in the third to go up 20-13, thanks to Cordrey who put down six of her 13 kills in the frame.
Just when the Profs looked to pull away in the fourth set, Kean managed to tie things up at 20-20.
Alexa Kelleher,
Abigail Bivona, and
Ava Best combined for a pair of two huge blocks twice in the final stretch to help turn the tide for good.
Rowan will welcome FDU-Florham on Saturday as part of the Homecoming festivities. First serve is slated for 11 a.m.
