#23 Baseball Picked Second in NJAC Preseason Poll

PITMAN, NJ – The Rowan baseball team has been chosen second in the 2025 NJAC Preseason Coaches Poll, while receiving two first-place votes. The Profs enter the season ranked #23 in the D3baseball.com Top 25.

The Profs return nine starters – six position players and three pitchers – from last year's team that went 29-15, was the NJAC runner-up and reached the NCAA Granville Regional, while finishing the season ranked #21 in the Top 25.

Leading the way are graduate students Tyler Cannon and Mike Shannon, who each return after a stellar 2024 season. Cannon earned 2024 All-America Fourth Team honors while leading the Profs in batting with his .387 average, and a team-high 55 runs and 19 doubles.
Shannon was tabbed as the NJAC Pitcher of the Year as he led the staff with an 8-3 record with 69 strikeouts and a 3.19 ERA.

Also back for the Profs are All-Region selections Phil Sedalis (CF) and Jason Morgan (LF), as well as All-NJAC honoree Chris Serrano (SS). Sedalis was named to the ABCA All-Defensive Team while batting .340 with 53 runs and six triples. Morgan was the Profs' second leading hitter with his .384 averaged as he drove in 40 runs.

Head coach Mike Dickson, now in his 11th year, welcomes 15 newcomers including transfers Tyler Parks (RHP, Lenoir Rhyne), Dave Appolonia (UT, RCSJ), Lucas Hampel (RHP, RCSJ), Damon Suriani (C, Barton Coll.), Steven Maiers (RHP, Barton), Eric Sabato (OF, Monmouth), Jack Norton (RHP, Immaculata), Ben Maiers (OF, Barton), Christian Rice (RHP, Staten Island), and Luke Vaks (RHP, West Chester).

Ramapo received four first-place votes and was chosen as the favorite with Kean and TCNJ being picked third and fourth, respectively. Stockton comes in at fifth, followed by Montclair State, Rutgers-Camden, William Paterson, Rutgers-Newark and NJCU.

Rowan opens the season on the weekend of March 1-2 at Hampden-Sydney, with the home opener set for March 5 against John Jay. The Profs will make their annual Spring Break trip to the RussMatt Invitational in Florida from March 13-20.
