PITMAN, NJ - Rowan's
Thomas Sullivan and
Emily McCutcheon were named the NJAC Pitchers of the Week in baseball and softball, for the week ending March 10 as both players helped the Profs to victories in their respective tournaments in Florida.
Sullivan made his first appearance on the mound in more than two years after recovering from Tommy John surgery. He made the start and threw 6.0 scoreless innings, allowing just two hits in the 11-1 win over Saint Vincent, which ended in the 8th inning due to the 10-run rule in effect at the RussMatt Invitational. The junior righthander struck out seven and only walked one in the outing to record his first career victory.
The #16 Profs are off to a 5-1 start this year, and in the midst of a five-game winning streak. They're back in action tonight at 7 p.m. against Salem State.
McCutcheon went 3-0 on the week, picking up wins in two starts and another in relief. The sophomore lefthander scattered six hits with two strikeouts and no walks in an 8-0 shutout of Ursinus. She picked up the win vs. Geneva as she had a career-high strikeouts and in a 5.1 innings scoreless relief appearance against #8 Case Western Reserve. The sophomore owns a 4-1 record with a 0.95 ERA in six appearances/four starts.
Rowan, now ranked seventh, is 6-4 this year and returns to action in Florda on Tuesday with games against Swarthmore (11:30 am) and St. Scholastica (1:45 pm).
