ROCHESTER, NY - The Rowan women's track team finished fifth in the team standings at the All-Atlantic Indoor Track & Field Regional Championships (AATFRC) hosted by Nazareth College, while
Makayla Taylor continued her dominance in winning the weight throw.
Taylor broke the facility record with a toss of 16.77m and also improved on the Rowan record that she owned. Her distance now ranks 18th in the NCAA and she could become the first Prof to ever qualify for the indoor national championships in a field event.
The Profs also turned in a number of season-best performances in the Distance Medley Relay, the 4x400m and the 4x200m relays.
The 4x200 of
Nevaeh Lorjuste, Amanthay Sosa Caceres,
Jasmine Broadway and
Molly Lodge clocked a 1:45.26 to finish second.
Rowan's 4x400 ran a season-best 4:01.45 to place third, as the relay was comprised of Caceres, Lodge, Kathleen Pedersen and Lorjuste.
The DMR took seventh, running 12:50.07 with the squad of
Anna Sasse,
Robin Collura,
Sha'Lynn Clarke and
Lyndsay Boyd.
Molly Lodge also recorded a season best in the 200m (26.12) with her third-place finish.
Taylor and the Profs will await potential qualification for the NCAA Championships, to be held on March 11-12 at Winston-Salem, NC.
