Clevenger Claims the 5000 Meters to Highlight Both the Men's and Women's Track & Field Teams on Day 1 at the NCAA Indoor Championships

BIRMINGHAM, AL -- On the first day of the 2025-26 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championships held at the Birmingham CrossPlex, the #2 Men's Team turned in a national champion in Seth Clevenger and an All-American honor for Bright John.

UPDATED RESULTS

Clevenger claimed the 5000 meters, setting a meet record in a winning time of 13:35.55. He becomes the fifth student-athlete in program history to win individual indoor championship en route to All-American honors.

John became the second Prof on the day to earn All-American accolades as the freshman topped out at 7.08 meters to finish fifth in the event.

The men's team currently sits in fourth place with 14 points, trailing third-place Wisconsin-LaCrosse (17) and second-place Washington University (19.5) Wisconsin-Oshkosh leads the field with 38 points.

The women's squad featured Nyla Jones and Gabriella Pagano in action. Centre (25 points) leads Johns Hopkins (20) and Williams (19) in the team scoring.

Jones tied a season-best with an 8.69 in the 60 meter hurdles preliminary. Her time was one of the top 8 and will move her to the finals tomorrow at 11:30 a.m.

Pagano competed in the 5000 meters but her time of 17:23.45 placed her 19th in the event.

In men's preliminary action:

- Jason Agyemang (7.95) and Kwaku Nkrumah (7.97) both advanced to the finals of the 60 meter hurdles, where Agyemang has a chance to grab his second-straight championship after winning the event at last season's nationals; Val Augustin clocked in at 8.37 but did not advance

- The same goes for Rajahn Dixon (21.13) and Elijah Hendricks (21.29) in the 200 meters; Evan Corcoran (21.62) was 14th in the preliminaries

- Clevenger teamed up with Blaik Slavinski, Marquis Taylor, and Teddy Wilson in the Distance Medley Relay where the foursome finished ninth (10:00.78)

- Masai Byrd (6.88) was outside of the top 8 in the 60 meters, where he was 17th

- Dallas Hohney competed in the 400 meters but did not finish
