GLASSBORO, NJ -- #4 Rowan bested #12 TCNJ, 2-1, Wednesday night in the NJAC opener for both squads.
Sara Wiedeman scored and added an assist as the Profs tied their best start (6-0) in program history, the first coming in the 2008 season.
Both goals came 1:42 apart in the first half as Wiedeman struck first. The senior created a space at the top of the box and fired her team-leading sixth tally on the season in the 17th minute. Less than a minute and a half later, it became a two-goal lead as
Cailey Bozinis put in a nice flick in the box off a set piece from Wiedeman. The score was the second for Bozinis.
The Lions struck in the 24th minute to cut it to 2-1 when Jenny Ward picked up a loose ball off an initial header from a corner kick. Caroline Freer assisted on Ward's fourth goal on the year.
Goalie
Enya Carthy saw six TCNJ shots with one save recorded. Lions keeper Ellen Williams made two saves including a point blank stop late in the first on a header from
Siena Sowers.
Rowan heads to William Paterson on Saturday at 1 p.m. in an NJAC matchup.
