PITMAN, NJ -- The New Jersey Athletic Conference cited Justus Peyton, Sydney Kowalczyk, Aurelia McManis and MaKala Baker among its weekly awards for the week ending September 27th.

Justus scored the NJAC Football Defensive Rookie of the Week after racking up four tackles (1.5 for losses) with a QB hurry and a pass breakup in Rowan's 9-0 shutout win over Lycoming on Saturday. The freshman was part of a group that held the Warriors to just five first downs and 118 total yards including a safety in the third quarter and a blocked field goal in the fourth. The Profs held Lycoming to just 1-of-13 on third downs as well.

Kowalczyk picks up her first honor of the season as the NJAC Field Hockey Offensive Player of the Week as she totaled two goals and one assist, with one game-winning goal in Rowan's three wins over Top 25 teams. The sophomore scored the Profs' first goal in the first quarter of the 3-2 overtime win at #25 Lynchburg. At #17 Washington and Lee, she assisted on Rowan's first goal and then tallied the game-winning goal with 1:15 remaining to give the Profs a 3-2 victory. Kowalczyk currently leads the team in scoring with six goals and four assists. 

As the NJAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week, McManis earns a weekly NJAC honor for the first time in her career. The senior totaled two goals, two assists and one defensive save in the Profs' three wins over ranked teams. She scored the Profs' first goal in the 3-2 overtime win at #24 Swarthmore to the week. McManis assisted on Mia Foti's gamewinner with less than five minutes left in 2-1 win at #25 Lynchburg while also posting a defensive save in the third quarter. 

Baker was awarded the NJAC Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week as she played all 90 minutes in Wednesday's 1-0 win at #8 Messiah in a matchup of two top 10 ranked teams. The Prof defense limited Messiah to just seven shots and one shot on goal while claiming the team's third shutout in a row and fourth this season.

Football (2-1) opens NJAC play this weekend hosting Vermont State-Castleton here at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium on Saturday in a 1 p.m. kickoff.

The field hockey team (6-3) has won six consecutive games and recorded three wins against ranked teams last week, including two in back-to-back days on the road. The Profs host Messiah on Wednesday before opening defense of their NJAC title on Friday against Ramapo. 

Sixth-ranked women's soccer (5-0) takes on a pair of NJAC opponents this week. First up is a rematch of last season's exciting conference semifinal game as TCNJ visits Glassboro on Wednesday before a road contest at William Paterson on Saturday.
