Five Fourth-Quarter Goals Powers #24 Field Hockey to a 7-0 Win Over Muhlenberg

GLASSBORO, NJ - Rowan scored five goals in the fourth quarter as the Profs defeated Muhlenberg, 7-0, in their home opener and Youth Day game.

Rowan (1-3; 0-0), was held scoreless in the first half by Muhlenberg (2-1; 0-0), but picked up the first win of the season as Olivia Nicolucci scored her first career goal with 5:51 remaining in the third quarter, off a long pass from Gracie Merrick.

Later in the third quarter, Riley McClelland fired a shot and found the back of the cage to give the Profs a two-goal advantage.

Olivia Nicolucci doubled down on her first career goal, finding the back of the cage again with 9:19 remaining in the fourth quarter.

After that, the Profs tallied four more goals en route to the 7-0 win. Grace Angelo scored with 6:51 remaining in the game, followed by Sophia Weisler, Tori Tullio, and Peyton Ryan.

The goals from McClelland, Angelo, Weisler, Tullio, and Ryan all go down as their first goals of the season.

Defensively, the profs only allowed eight shots from the Mules, and only five shots on goal. Sophomore Ella Morton made four saves in the cage for Rowan, while sophomore Kelley Crescenzo made one. Morton played 53 minutes, while Crescenzo played the final seven minutes.

The Profs are back at home on Wednesday, September 16 against Catholic University. That game is set for 6 p.m. at Coach Richard Wackar Stadium.
