Game Recap: Women's Lacrosse |

Elaina Corson Becomes All-Time Leader in Goals as #16 Women's Lacrosse Rolls to a 21-0 Win at Ramapo

Rothwein sets Profs' record for draw controls in a game with 16

MAHWAH, NJ – Elaina Corson scored five goals and became the school's all-time leading scorer as #16 Rowan rolled to a 21-0 win over Ramapo in an NJAC women's lacrosse matchup. Madison Rothwein had four goals and posted a school-record 16 draw controls as Rowan (11-2; 2-0 NJAC) extended its winning streak to eight games.

Corson made history early in the second quarter with her third goal of the game, which was the 251st of her career, to break the mark of 250 that was set by All-American Becca Wood from 2012 to 2015. Finishing with five in the game, Corson now has 253 goals in her career.

Rothwein's 16 draw controls set a new Rowan record, as she eclipsed the mark of 15 that was set by Liz Kramer vs. Cabrini in 2019.

Alexis Lowry also had four goals in the game, while Corson and Rothwein handed out three assists each.

Rowan got to work right away when Rothwein scored the first three goals of the game within the first nine minutes. The sophomore would get her fourth goal while Corson added two goals and Lowry and Trish Gillen chipped in a goal apiece.

The Profs took the 8-0 lead into the second period and continued with their foot on the gas. After Corson's record-breaking goal, Fiona Lockhart netted her first of the day at the 13:21 mark. Corson and Lowry added two more goals in the quarter while Olivia Wisor added her name to the scoresheet with a goal, giving Rowan a 15-0 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, Jordan Ewart scored her first goal of her college career while Lowry, Lockhart, Sofia Lijo and Jess Hoffmaster each netted a goal, running the Profs' lead to 20-0.

Mia Pezzato notched her first collegiate goal in the fourth quarter, as Rowan's only score.

The Profs played stifling defense, not allowing a shot on goal by the Roadrunners. The effort also marked the first time Rowan has recorded a shutout since April 27, 2013 with a 16-0 win over Eastern. All three Profs' goalies saw action with Kylie Durboraw starting and being relieved by Aubrey Cunningham and Shelby Foote.

Up next, Rowan will return home to welcome Kean on Saturday, April 18 for "Senior Day".
