NEW ORLEANS, LA -- Rowan Track & Field Assistant Coach
Norm Tate has been named the United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Division III Men's Assistant Coach of the Year for the 2024 outdoor track & field season.
Tate, in his 16th year at Rowan, helped guide the Prof sprinters and hurdles to multi All-American finishes including a NCAA National Champion at the 2024 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships.
Tate's athletes scored 31 of the Profs' 48 team points, including a 1-2-5 finish in the 110-meter hurdles where
Kwaku Nkrumah won the race in 13.77 for the second fastest mark in NCAA DIII history, to claim Rowan's first National Champion since 2021, and
Jason Agyemang finished runner-up in 13.80 put him fifth on the all-time chart. Rowan finished in a tie for third place at the Division III Nationals.
The Profs produced top-5 finishers in both the 4×100 and 4×400 relays. All told, each of Tate's athletes finished higher than their seed time going into the NCAA Championships. At the NJAC Outdoor Championships, Tate's athletes scored 160 of the Profs' record 366 team points.
