PITMAN, NJ -- The New Jersey Athletic Conference awarded weekly honors to five Profs for the week ending April 14th;
Molly Green (NJAC Women's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week),
Molly Lodge (NJAC Women's Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week),
Amara Conte (NJAC Men's Track & Field Track Athlete of the Week),
Elijah Hendricks (NJAC Men's Track & Field Rookie of the Week), and
Tyler Cannon (NJAC Baseball Player of the Week).
Green picks up NJAC weekly honors for the second time this season as she was a key performer on both offense and defense in the Profs' 1-1 week. She totaled nine goals and one assist while also posting 11 ground balls, seven caused turnovers and 11 draw controls. The junior midfielder tied her career-high with five goals as Rowan snapped a five-game losing streak and won its NJAC opener, defeating Kean, 19-9 while adding five ground balls, three caused turnovers and four draw controls. Earlier in the week, she recorded a team-high four goals and one assist, to go along with six ground balls, four caused turnovers and seven draw controls as the Profs fell to #3 Franklin & Marshall, 21-12. Green is the Profs' second leading scorer with 40 points (33 goals, 7 assists) and tops the team with 61 draw controls, 31 caused turnovers and 41 ground balls.
Lodge scores her first weekly conference accolade after an outstanding performance at the Larry Ellis Invitational hosted by Princeton over the weekend. The junior ran her second-fastest time in the 400 meter hurdles (1:02.26) to notch the #5 time in Division III and the top NJAC result. She later would team up with
Jasmine Pope,
Kat Pedersen, and
Nevaeh Lorjuste in the 4x400 relay to turn in a #8 Division III time (3:53.45).
Conte also nabs the first weekly honor this season after his showing at Princeton on Saturday. The senior hit the #5 Division III time in the 400 meters (47.20), and #34 Division III mark in the 200 meters (21.56), both NJAC bests.
Hendricks appears on the honor list for the first time this year as the freshman clocked in at 21.73 in the 200 meters, also at Princeton, to claim the #2 NJAC and #3 Metro Region time.
Cannon earns NJAC honors for the first time in his career as he hit .520 (13-for-25) with seven runs, four doubles and four RBI as the 18th-ranked Profs went 3-2 last week. After going 2-for-5 with two runs and two RBI in a loss at Stockton, the senior paced the 20-5 win over Rutgers-Camden as he went 4-for-6 with two runs and two RBI as the #18 Profs snapped a four-game losing streak. He went 3-for-5 at the plate and drove in one run and scored another as Rowan earned a 9-8 win at Rutgers-Camden. Cannon tops Rowan with his .422 average while leading the team with 10 doubles and 46 hits.
This week, the women's lacrosse team (4-9; 1-0 NJAC) continues conference play by hosting Stockton on Wednesday. The nationally-ranked baseball squad (16-9; 4-6 NJAC) will host York (Pa.) on Tuesday in a non-conference game and will get back to conference play with a two-game series with TCNJ on Thursday and Friday. Men's and Women's Track & Field returns to action this weekend at the Widener Invitational with some members heading to Texas for the Michael Johnson Invitational hosted by Baylor.
