Juiliano, Gray, Aportela, Cason and Guerra Awarded Weekly Honors by the New Jersey Athletic Conference

PITMAN, NJ -- Joshua Cason, Mia Guerra, Mariah Juiliano, Jenna Gray, and Dylan Aportela all took home honors from the New Jersey Athletic Conference in its weekly awards for the week ending October 20th.

Cason was named the NJAC Men's Cross Country Runner of the Week for the second week in a row. The senior was the top Prof in the men's championship 8k race, placing ninth (24:42.7) at the ninth-annual Rowan Border Battle on Saturday, clocking in with one of the fastest times in the NJAC this season. The Profs would finish fourth overall.

Guerra captured the NJAC Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week honor after clocking in at 22:02.6 good for 16th place in the women's championship 6k race at the Border Battle on Saturday. The Profs would finish as runners-up, getting four of its five scoring runners in the top 25.

Juliano claimed the NJAC Field Hockey Defensive Player of the Week as the sophomore goalkeeper helped the Profs to two NJAC wins in the week. She faced eight shots and allowed just one goal as Rowan rallied for a 2-1 win over TCNJ and then took on 12 shots but made five saves in the 5-0 win at Kean on Saturday. It was her fourth shutout of the season as Rowan increased its winning streak to four games.

Gray earns the NJAC Field Hockey Rookie of the Week honors for the third time this year. The freshman totaled two goals and one assist in Profs' 2-0 week. She assisted on the tying goal with four minutes to play as Rowan rallied from a 1-0 deficit to rival TCNJ to eventually record a 2-1 victory. The rookie scored twice in the 5-0 win at Kean to round out the week. She currently ranks second on the team in scoring with eight goals and four assists.

Aportela earns the NJAC Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week honors for the second time this year by recording a pair of shutouts as the #23 Profs went 2-0 on the week. The senior goalkeeper made three saves in the 2-0 home win over Stockton. He then posted four saves in the 1-0 road upset of #7 Montclair State as he faced 11 shots, for his fourth solo shutout of the season.

Field Hockey (8-7, 3-0 NJAC) will host William Paterson on Wednesday and Salisbury on Friday. Men's Soccer (7-4-5, 4-0-2 NJAC) remains unbeaten in conference play and will host Kean on Wednesday and Ramapo on Saturday. Both the men's and women's cross country squads will compete at the NJAC Championships on Saturday, November 2nd.
