GLASSBORO, NJ – Rowan Athletics honored six student-athletes with its annual special awards named after former athletic directors and coaches. These Profs join a distinguished list while continuing Rowan's tradition of excellence. Rowan Athletics congratulates these award winners and all of the student-athletes who excelled both athletically and academically in 2022-23, which was one of the most successful years in the history of Prof Athletics.
SHIRLEY O'DAY AWARD – BRIDGET GUINAN (Field Hockey)
The Shirley O'Day award is presented to the female student-athlete who is in good academic standing and demonstrates outstanding athletic achievement, leadership, cooperation, and a good general attitude.
COACH RICHARD WACKAR AWARD – AMARA CONTE (Track & Field)
The Coach Richard Wackar Award is presented to the male student-athlete who is in good academic standing and demonstrates outstanding athletic achievement, leadership, cooperation, and a good general attitude.
DR. MICHAEL BRIGLIA AWARD – JOHN MALDONADO (Football)
The Dr. Michael Briglia Scholar-Athlete Award is given to the male student-athlete who possesses excellence in athletic ability, attitude, and dedication to his sport, while also demonstrating high moral and ethical standards.
DR. MARY RICE SCHOLAR-ATHLETE AWARD – ABBY HAINSWORTH (Field Hockey)
The Dr. Mary Rice Scholar-Athlete Award is given to the female student-athlete who possesses excellence in athletic ability, attitude, and dedication to her sport, while also demonstrating high moral and ethical standards.
JOY SOLOMEN LEADERSHIP AWARD – JULIA BOWES (Volleyball) and JAH'MERE BEASLEY (Track & Field)
The Joy Solomen Leadership Award is presented to one female and one male student-athlete, recognizing strong leadership qualities and dedication and passion to Rowan Athletics.
