BROCKPORT, NY - Rowan's field hockey coaching staff has been named the NFHCA Region IV Coaching Staff of the Year, as one of six Division III coaching staffs selected by a majority vote of their regional colleagues in the National Field Hockey Coaches Association.
Â
It marks the second time that Rowan's coaches have been named the region's top staff, as they also earned it in 2018.
Â
Head coach
Michelle Andre and assistant coaches
Erin Small and
Danielle Altersitz guided the Profs to an 18-3 record, the NJAC Championship and a berth in the NCAA Final Four. The fourth-ranked Profs reached the Final Four for the second time in three years and the fifth time in the program's history, before falling to eventual champion and top-ranked Middlebury. It was also the second conference title in the past three years for Rowan.
Â
Rowan, which went undefeated in conference play (6-0), put together a 16-game winning streak this year and recorded nine shutouts.
Â
Andre and staff also saw the Profs earn a host of individual honors as they placed six players on the NFHCA All-Region IV Team, led by Region IV Player of the Year
Kristiina Castagnola.
Molly Gorczyca,
Bridget Guinan,
Krystyna Hovell and
Julia Patrone were also named to the All-Region IV First Team while
Abby Hainsworth earned Second Team honors.
Â
In six years as Rowan's head coach, Andre has guided the Profs to a 94-28 record, three NCAA Tournament appearances and two NJAC titles. She has also been named the NJAC Coach of the Year twice, in 2018 and 2021.
