PISCATAWAY, NJ – The Rowan University women's swimming & diving team remained in first place at the Metropolitan Championships after two days of competition. The last day of the meet is on Sunday, Feb. 23 at Rutgers University.
The 200 medley relay swam a winning time of 1:45.36 with
Abigail Brous,
Emily Kopchick,
Daria Mnich and
Jordan McChesney. The 800 freestyle relay took first place in 7:46.51 and broke the Rowan record (7:51.16) from December 2017.
Veronica Alferez,
Elizabeth O'Brien,
Emily LaBenski and
Carlee Timmins made up the free relay.
Kopchick came in first in the 100 breaststroke with a school record time of 1:04.67. The previous mark was 1:04.95 by Teri Hatcher (March 1994). Brous won the 100 backstroke in 56.87. Alferez was the winner (4:35.63) in the 400 individual medley and she improved on her Rowan record (4:36.25).
Alex Bambrick finished second (4:40.00) in the 400 individual medley and Timmins was second (1:55.86) in the 200 freestyle. Bambrick also tied for fifth (1:00.15) in the 100 backstroke.
Nicole Harms took second (1:06.02) in the 100 breaststroke and
Megan Miller was fourth (1:06.23). LaBenski came in third (1:56.36) in the 200 free followed by O'Brien, fourth (1:57.93).
Kylie Salerno had a third place (59.66) in the 100 backstroke and she was eighth (1:02.04) in the 100 butterfly. Mnich took third (59.19) in the 100 butterfly. In the 400 individual medley,
Jordan Jones finished sixth (4:51.13) and
Taylor DeGennaro finished seventh (4:52.12).
McChesney had a sixth place (1:58.37) in the 200 free and
Lindsay Cave was 10
th (1:58.33).
Bailey Howarth came in 10
th (1:09.13) in the 100 breaststroke.
