Field hockey player
Liz Fox was selected for this installment of "Know Your Profs". Last season, Fox was fourth on the team in scoring with 16 points. The midfielder/forward started every game and contributed with eight goals. She scored three goals in a 4-3 victory over Montclair State. Fox recorded the game-winner against Kean (4-2) and Ursinus (5-4).
What was the biggest factor that led you to choose Rowan?
The biggest reason I chose Rowan was the amazing engineering program that's offered, especially the engineering clinics that are integrated in the curriculum which are a fantastic opportunity to get hands-on experience and connect with companies. I knew I wanted to play field hockey in college, so the successful and welcoming field hockey program was what solidified my choice.
What is your most memorable moment in sports, whether at Rowan or before?
Competing in the NCAA Final Four Championship was one of my favorite moments in sports. It was an exciting and rewarding experience that made me want to return to again.
If you could play any other sport in college, what would it be and why?
If I could play any other sport in college, I would play lacrosse. I had played lacrosse my entire life until I graduated high school and it's one of my favorite sports to watch.
Who was your biggest role model growing up?
My biggest role model growing up was my sister. As most younger sisters do, I always wanted to follow in her footsteps, so when she decided to quit soccer and try field hockey, I did the same and I can't thank her enough for doing so.
If you could travel anywhere in the world where would you go and why?
If I could travel anywhere, I would want to go to Germany. The culture is so interesting and I love hearing people speak German.
What's your choice – Netflix, YouTube, Cable TV? Favorite show?
It's a tie between Netflix and YouTube. Netflix has my favorite show New Girl but I am also a huge fan of watching crime shows and documentaries that are available on YouTube.
Who is your favorite professional athlete or team?
My favorite professional team is the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Who is your favorite follow on social media?
My favorite on any social media is definitely Guy Fieri.
Which do you prefer – online classes or in person?
As an engineering student, I definitely prefer in person classes because I miss building relationships with my classmates and being able to do hands on projects.
What is your major at Rowan and what are your career aspirations?
I am a biomedical engineering major and after graduation I would either like to attend Physician Assistant school or find a career in stem cell research and regenerative medicine in hopes to create artificial organs for cancer and transplant patients.
What's the best thing about being a Prof?
The best part of being a Prof is being able to have such a close relationship with so many people on campus that you never feel out of place.
