GLASSBORO, NJ – The Rowan University student-athletes are this year's winner of the New Jersey Athletic Conference's (NJAC) Cans Across the Conference competition. The Profs have claimed the title every year since the event was started 10 years ago.
The program is a friendly competition between the conference's 10 member schools. Rowan collected 1,479 cans out of the conference's over 3,000 items. The Profs' donations were given to the University's SHOP (Students Helping Other Profs) Food Pantry. Since 2009-10, the NJAC has distributed over 63,000 cans that were donated.
Rowan's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee members were recognized at halftime of the men's basketball game against William Paterson University on Wednesday, Feb. 6. The University received a plaque that was presented by NJAC Assistant Commissioner Michelle Serabian.
