PITMAN, NJ – Five Rowan University student-athletes earned New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) honors.
Nick Neville was named the NJAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week and
Adonis McGee was the Rookie of the Week.
Sha'Lynn Clarke was selected the conference's Women's Track & Field Rookie of the Week.
Kevin Gillooly was chosen the NJAC Men's Swimmer of the Week while
Chad Shire was the Diver of the Week. It was Shire's fifth conference honor this season and the second for Gillooly.
At the Fastrack Season Opener, Neville won the 800 meter run with a time of 1:54.41. He also anchored the fourth place 4x800 meter relay (8:21.25). His time in the 800 meters is currently fourth in the NCAA Division III and the 4x800 meter relay is third.
McGee took second place in the high jump in the first meet. He had a height of 6' 6.75" (2.00 m), which is tied for fifth in Division III. Clarke ran a winning time of 2:24.68 in the 800 meter run at the Coach I Open. She ranks eighth in the nation in the 800 meters. The meet was held at Franklin & Marshall College.
At the Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) Gompei Invitational, Gillooly won two individual events, swam on three first place relays and was on two second place relays. He won the 100 backstroke (49.16) and 100 freestyle (45.35). His time in the 100 backstroke was a NCAA B cut and he improved on his school record. In the 200 backstroke prelims, Gillooly swam 1:48.11, which was a NCAA B cut and he broke his University mark.
The 200 medley relay took first place and the 400 medley relay was second with times of 1:30.17 and 3:21.91 respectively. The 200 freestyle relay finished first in 1:23.08. Gillooly swam 20.43 on the relay and his time was a NCAA B cut. The 400 freestyle relay came in first (3:02.90) and the 800 freestyle relay was second (6:54.31). The 200 medley relay and 400 freestyle relay produced NCAA B cut times.
Shire took second place in the one-meter diving with 453.05 points at the WPI Gompei Invitational. He came in third in the three-meter (505.95) and mixed synchronized (192.55) diving.
