Geneseo Women Capture Second Straight NCAA Atlantic Region Cross Country Title

GLASSBORO, NJ – The SUNY Geneseo women's cross country team made it two in a row, winning the team title at the 2016 NCAA Atlantic Region Cross Country Championships hosted by Rowan University.
 
The Knights totaled 90 points, handily defeating SUNY Oneonta (112), RPI (121) and Ithaca College (121). Geneseo's top finisher was Marissa Cossaro, who placed seventh on the 6K course with a time of 21:04.8. Sara Rosenzweig (ninth, 21:12.7), Elise Ramirez (13th, 21:19.3), Marissa Bellusci (28th, 21:51.1), Kristen Homeyer (33rd, 22:02.1) and Kelly Flanagan (34th, 22:02.7) also earned All-Region honors.
 
Amy Regan of Stevens Institute of Technology claimed her second individual region title with a time of 20:05.1. She helped lead the Ducks to fifth place in the team standings (160). Regan was the 2014 region and national champion.
 
Ithaca's Taryn Cordani (20:24.8), RPI's Jaime Lord (20:46.4), St. Lawrence's Megan Kellogg (20:48.5) and Stevens' Mary Visca (20:51.8) rounded out the top five.
 
Geneseo and Oneonta advance to the NCAA Division III Championships on Saturday, Nov. 19 at E.P. Tom Sawyer Park in Louisville, KY. Sixteen other at-large bids will be awarded from the nation's eight total regions. The top seven individual finishers from each region not on one of the team qualifiers will earn an invitation to the national championships.
