LA CROSSE, WI - The Rowan University women’s track & field team had two athletes that advanced to the finals at the NCAA Division III Championships.  The three-day national championships end on Saturday, May 25 at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse’s Roger Harring Stadium.

On Friday, Jamie Thompson (jr. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick) finished second in heat three of the 100 meter hurdles prelims with a time of 14.15.  Her time is fifth among the nine qualifiers for Saturday’s final at 4:15 p.m.  Illinois College’s Melissa Norville had the top time (13.78) in the prelims of the 100 meter hurdles.

Brianna Crofton (so. Franklinville, NJ/Delsea Reg.) took second in the second heat of the 400 meters prelims.  She ran a school record time of 56.14 that broke the mark (56.32) held by Shailah Williams (fr. Pemberton, NJ/Pemberton Twp.).  Crofton has the fifth best time going into the championship at 4:40 p.m. on Saturday.  Ashante Little from Wheaton College (MA) is first (55.85) out of the nine finalists in the 400 meters.   

Williams competed in the 100 meters prelims.  She came in 15th with a time of 12.24.  On Thursday, Williams finished 11th (24.59) in the prelims of the 200 meters.  

The Profs also advanced to the finals of the 4x100 and 4x400 meter relays, which are at 3:30 and 7:20 p.m. respectively on Saturday.  Melissa Lake (so. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) and Sarah Dores (jr. Maple Shade, NJ/Holy Cross) have qualified in the javelin that is scheduled at 4:45 p.m.  Vanessa Wright (sr. Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Mem.) is entered in the 5,000 meters at 6:30 p.m.
