2012 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society Inductees
DALLAS, TX – Four Rowan University football players were named to the 2012 National Football Foundation (NFF) Hampshire Honor Society.
The honorees included: safeties Jack Buckley (sr. Phillipsburg, NJ/Phillipsburg) and Eric Sharkey (sr. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.), fullback Chris Delia (sr. Mullica Hill, NJ/Clearview Reg.) and kicker Tommy Wilczynski (sr. Pine Hill, NJ/Overbrook). The NFF Hampshire Honor Society is comprised of college football players from NCAA Divisions I, II, III and the NAIA that are starters or significant reserves with a cumulative 3.2 grade point average (GPA) or better. This year, 721 players from 232 schools were inducted.
A captain, Buckley totaled 49 tackles (25 solo, 24 assisted). He compiled four tackles for a loss (-12 yards) and two interceptions. Buckley earned New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Academic honorable mention in 2011 and 2010. He was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. A Rowan Scholar-Athlete, Buckley has a 3.204 GPA in health and exercise science.
Sharkey registered 57 stops (28 solo, 29 assisted). He posted 1.5 tackles for a loss (-2 yards), five passes defended, two interceptions and one forced fumble. A team captain, Sharkey was selected to the NJAC All-Conference first team and Eastern College Athletic Conference South All-Star second team. He received NJAC All-Academic honorable mention twice and is a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma National College Athlete Honor Society. A Rowan Scholar-Athlete, Sharkey is majoring in health and exercise science with a 3.273 GPA.
Delia played in nine games this season. He is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers. A Rowan Scholar-Athlete, he is currently enrolled in the University’s Civil Engineering master’s program. Delia has accumulated a 3.276 GPA in civil and environmental engineering.
Wilczynski was second on the team with 45 points. He converted 27 of 30 extra point attempts and six of nine field goals. Wilczynski earned Capital One/College Sports Information Directors of America Academic All-America and All-District II first team honors. He was chosen the Philadelphia Inquirer Academic All-Area Performer of the Year and to the All-Area Team. Wilczynski received 2011 NJAC All-Academic honorable mention. A Rowan Scholar-Athlete, he is majoring in biological sciences with a 3.987 GPA.
