SWARTHMORE, PA – The Rowan University women’s track and field team competed at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet on Monday night.
Melirah Searcy (fr. Edison, NJ/Edison) took second in the 400 meter hurdles with a season best of 1:02.00. She currently has the 11th best time in the NCAA Division III. Danielle Czohla (sr. Lafayette, NJ/High Point Reg.) finished second (11:13.01) in the 3000 meter steeplechase. Her time was a career top performance. The 4x100 meter relay came in second with a time of 48.72 with Tashay Wilson (fr. Hillside, NJ/Hillside), Jamie Thompson (so. Monmouth Jct., NJ/South Brunswick), Shantel Beckford (fr. Piscataway, NJ/Piscataway) and Jessica Carlson (so. Manahawkin, NJ/Southern Reg.).
Thompson had a time of 14.85 in the 100 meter hurdles for third place and Carlson was seventh (15.33). Emily Spieker (jr. Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) took third in the hammer with a career throw of 138’ 8” (42.26 meters). Magan Kustera (so. West Deptford, NJ/West Deptford) tied for fifth in the high jump with a height of 4’ 11.75" (1.52 meters) and Sam Kamper (so. Middletown, NJ/Middletown N.) was 10th (4’ 11.75”, 1.52 meters).
Beckford finished 11th (12.78) in the 100 meters. Brianna Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) came in 12th (1:01.28) in the 400 meters while Alexus Streater (fr. Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) was 15th (1:02.09). Jena Peacock (sr. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) came in 19th (4:35.32) in the 1500 meters.
Rowan travels to Troy, NY for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday and Friday, May 17 and 18.
