SWARTHMORE, PA – The Rowan University men’s track and field team competed at the Swarthmore College Last Chance Meet on Monday night.
Demetrius Rooks (jr. Galloway, NJ/Absegami) won the 400 meter hurdles in 52.44. The Profs captured first place in the 4x100 (42.13) and 4x400 (3:12.94) meter relays. The 4x400 meter relay’s time is a Swarthmore facility record and currently eighth in the nation. Jayce Maxwell (sr. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Taylor Purdue (jr. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.), Ali Ejaz (jr. Glassboro, NJ/Glassboro) and Rooks were on the 4x400. The 4x100 meter relay included Brandon Taylor (jr. Woodstown, NJ/Woodstown), Maxwell, Marcus Rawls (so. North Brunswick, NJ/Florence Twp. Mem.) and Ejaz.
Taylor took second place (11.01) in the 100 meters while Rawls was seventh (11.16). Ejaz came in second (21.45) in the 200 meters. His time is 10th among the NCAA Division III top peformances. Frank Visconti (jr. Berlin, NJ/Eastern Reg.) finished fifth in the discus with a throw of 141’ (42.99 meters).
Eric DuBois (sr. Pittsgrove, NJ/A.P. Schalick) took ninth place (14:36.49) in the 5000 meters. His time was a season best. Michael Carotenuto (jr. Port Monmouth, NJ/Middletown N.) was 15th (1:53.37) in the 800 meters. Josh McGriff (jr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.) finished 16th (51.84) in the 400 meters.
Rowan travels to Troy, NY for the Eastern College Athletic Conference Championships on Thursday and Friday, May 17 and 18.
