Rowan's Peacock Has NCAA Provisional At Wake Forest Open

WINSTON-SALEM, NC – The Rowan University men’s and women’s outdoor track and field teams finished competing at the Wake Forest Open on Saturday. The two-day meet was held at Wake Forest University.

Jena Peacock (so. Williamstown, NJ/Our Lady of Mercy Academy) ran a NCAA provisional time of 11:06.74 in the women’s 3000 meter steeplechase. She finished second among the colleges and third overall. Peacock also broke the school mark (11:50.96) that she set last year. The NCAA provisional for the steeplechase is 11:13.00.

Mark Lisa (so. Highland Lakes, NJ/Vernon Twp.) took sixth place in the men’s long jump with 22’ 9.75” (6.95 meters) and Kyle Hayes (jr. Pt. Pleasant, NJ/Pt. Pleasant Boro) was 17th (21’ 8.25”, 6.61 meters). The men’s 4x400 meter relay finished 21st in 3:28.85. The relay included Josh McGriff (fr. Flemington, NJ/Hunterdon Central Reg.), Jayce Maxwell (so. Toms River, NJ/Monsignor Donovan), Brian Makinson (jr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson) and Daniel Collier (sr. Cinnaminson, NJ/Cinnaminson).

The women’s 4x100 meter relay was 11th in 48.83 with Heidi DeGuzman (so. Central Islip, NY/Pennsauken), Sylvia Mosley (so. Pleasantville, NJ/Pleasantville), Beverlee Brownlee (fr. Willingboro, NJ/Willingboro) and Amirah Muneer (so. Ewing, NJ/Ewing). The 4x400 meter relay took 13th place (4:05.10). The relay consisted of Muneer, Brownlee, Tiffany Chamberlain (fr. Burlington, NJ/Burlington Twp.) and Jacqui Nisbett (jr. Woodbury, NJ/Woodbury).

In the 400 meter hurdles, Chamberlain came in 11th (1:04.85) while Nisbett was 19th (1:06.67). Rose Johnson (so. Willingboro, NJ/Holy Cross) tied for 15th place in the high jump with 4’ 8.25” (1.43 meters). Jenn Rawls (fr. Runnemede, NJ/Highland Reg.) finished 18th in the 1500 meters with a time of 4:43.39.

This year, there were over 1,500 athletes from 40 different schools that competed at the Wake Forest Open. Next week, Rowan travels to Maryland on Saturday, March 27 for the Towson University Invitational at 10 a.m.
