NJAC All-Conference Teams
PITMAN, NJ – The Rowan University women’s swimming and diving team was represented on the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) All-Conference teams. Samantha Rottkamp was named the NJAC Diver of the Year.
The women received NJAC All-Conference first team selections in five individual events and second team honors in two individual events and four relays. The All-Conference teams are determined by the top two conference finishers in each event at the Metropolitan Championships. The championships were held February 19-21 at Rutgers University. The Rowan women finished sixth overall out 21 teams.
Rottkamp (so. Bridgeton, NJ/Cumberland Reg.) was selected to the NJAC All-Conference first team for the one and three meter diving. It is the second straight year that she was chosen the NJAC Diver of the Year. At the Metropolitan Championships, Rottkamp won the one meter diving with 434.20 points and she finished second in the three meter (404.65 points). This season, she was picked the NJAC Diver of the Week five times.
Kate Winters (jr. Princeton Jct., NJ/West Windsor-Plainsboro) was a NJAC All-Conference first team member in the 200 yard backstroke and the 400 yard individual medley. She was also a second team selection in the 200 yard individual medley. At the Metropolitan Championships, Winters had a third place in the 200 yard backstroke (2:08.12). Her time was a NCAA B cut (2:09.04) and also a school record. She broke the previous mark of 2:08.27 by Donna Restivo in 1995. Winters came in fourth in the 400 yard individual medley (4:39.53) and seventh in the 200 yard individual medley (2:11.56).
Stacey Rahter (jr. Somers Point, NJ/Mainland Reg.) earned a spot on the NJAC All-Conference first team in the 200 yard individual medley. She finished sixth with a time of 2:11.33 which was a school record. Rahter broke the mark (2:11.83) that was held by Winters. Julie Furdyna (jr. Livingston, NJ/Livingston) was a NJAC All-Conference second team selection in the 1650 yard freestyle with a third place finish (18:19.04).
The 200, 400 and 800 yard freestyle relays were NJAC All-Conference second team members. The 400 yard medley relay was also a second team honoree. The 200 yard freestyle relay with Rahter, Lauren Hauser (sr. Mountainside, NJ/Governor Livington), Teresa Stearns (fr. Absecon, NJ/Holy Spirit) and Anne O’Gorman (jr. Boonton, NJ/Academy of St. Elizabeth) came in sixth (1:42.06).
Rahter, Winters, Stearns and Hauser made up the fifth place (3:43.23) 400 yard free relay. The 800 yard freestyle relay took sixth place (8:15.45) with Winters, Furdyna, Caroline Lewis (jr. Monroeville, NJ/Woodstown) and Kate Toomer (fr. Hamilton, NJ/Steinert). The fifth place medley relay (4:05.61) consisted of Winters, Rahter, O’Gorman and Stearns.
